2017 Congressional Art Competition -- HHS Winners!
Three Heritage art students received awards for their entries in the 2017 Congressional Art Competition. Sophomore Michelle Park for Night Statue got Honorable Mention Junior Pallavi Sridhar For Switzerland mountain landscape got Honorable Mention Senior Ariana Kypuros for Dog received second place for the entire competition, she received an America flag that hung on the United state capital building, an award for her honor and her artwork will be up for the display in the Congressman Sam Johnson's office for all of 2017-18 year. Kayleigh Kowaleski
Senior Heritage High School student, Kayleigh Koweleski, Co-editor-in-chief of The Tribute HHS yearbook excels in journalism and graphic design. She has achieved recognition and numerous awards ranging from designing the 2017-2018 FISD Academic Catalog to designing the shirt for Earth Day TX held in Fair Park, April 21-23. Kayleigh’s love for graphic design began in Middle School, and has grown through her high school career.
In addition, she excels in story-telling through the lens of her camera. Kayleigh achieved the 2017 Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) Gold Circle Award, first place for Yearbook Photo Illustration.
Kayleigh’s plans are to major in Visual Communication with a minor in Photojournalism, and is excited to follow the path her talents and opportunities take her!
State V.A.S.E.
Seven art student qualifiers (8 works) advance to State in San Antonio from the regional event in February. Six of our students were honored by receiving a score of 4 (which is the highest) and medalling at state, and one student received a Gold Seal! The Gold Seals are the best 150 works in the State (a small percentage of each division.)
